These cookies get lots of comments every time I make them and there never seem to be left-overs.
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
6 ounces real chocolate chips
6 ounces shredded coconut
3 ounces slivered almonds
3 cups uncooked oat meal
1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
Preheat oven to 350 degrees, Fahrenheit
Mix the sugars, shortening, spices, vanilla, and eggs until they are thoroughly blended.
Add the dry ingredients and continue to mix until all ingredients are uniformly distributed throughout the dough.
Drop onto a greased baking sheet and bake for about ten minutes.
Let the cookies cool for two minutes before you remove them from the baking sheet.
Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
